Character
Name: Eris
Appearance: Whatever she wants it to be! However, Eris is want to this specific form, regardless of size.
Canon: Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas (Dreamworks, 2003)
History: Seen here
However, the entire page is hard to interpret, so here's a summary.

Eris, Goddess of Chaos and Discord, devises a plan to upset Sinbad's life, overall stealing the Book of Peace, the relic that provides protection to the Twelve Cities (one of them, Syracuse). By taking that protection away, she can plunge the Twelve Cities into war and disorder, and consume them, creating her own little realm in the mortal world.
She convinces Sinbad to steal the book, and yet steals it herself. This causes the Ambassadors of the Twelve Cities to condemn the pirate to death. Thus her plan continues, Proteus offers himself on the idea that Sinbad would steal the book back from Eris in order to keep his friend from dying.
Sinbad 'does the right thing', and Eris gives him a hard time, hoping to make him late for Proteus' beheading.
She provides different trials for the pirate and his crew, including sirens, the snow bird-of-prey Roc, and herself included. Eris taunts him, and reveals that this was her plan all along, for him to get to Tartarus, and for Proteus to die. She's impressed by his tenacity, and yet, she tries to appeal to his newfound moral compass, striking another deal with him. If he lies about his intentions to return to Syracuse, she would keep the book. He did, to himself, and Eris left him outside of Tartarus with Marina and his crew.
Sinbad returns to Syracuse to keep his promise to Proteus. As a deity, Eris must keep her promises, and she does, returning the Book on her good word that Sinbad would return to Syracuse to die. She's visibly upset about the loss of Syracuse and the Twelve Cities, and leaves to cause trouble elsewhere.

Canon point: Eris is post-canon, having left the isles of Greece, Italy and Syracuse to cause trouble somewhere else.

Personality:
There is a good principle which created order, light, and man, and an evil principle which created chaos, darkness, and woman.
- Pythagoras

Eris is chaotic in all forms of the word; witty, sarcastic and sexy. On the flip side, she's vain, manipulative, ruthless, and condescending. Her lack of physical form helps represent her as the root of disorder and destruction. But even goddesses have to keep their toes in line, especially when bound by their words.

She's cunning, crafting intricate plans with clever articulation. Her plot, initially pitched as an attack on Sinbad, is not as it seems in the end. She instead, crafted her plan around Sinbad's lack of morality in order to bring chaos down on Syracuse. She relies on twisting words, bending truths and leaving out important details in order to get her way. This mostly is show when she oh-so-innocently convinces Sinbad to steal the Book of Peace for her---instead, stealing it herself and framing the theif. Usually, she won't spin a plan around someone she knows will outwit her, nor does she make bets on slow ponies; doling out the fine print with Eris is a quick way to turn her off of you. She'll lure you away from her fine print by dismissing the details (such as Sinbad asking about the catch in their deal) and instead, distract you with the reward (in her case, nudging Sinbad towards owning land, quite possibly the world). You can outwit her, but you'll have to beat her at her own word game first; or fool her into thinking you're a bigger idiot than you seem (which is difficult, given her omniscience). Sinbad does a accidental good job of picking her up at the fine print; proving her wrong by returning to Syracuse and making his lie, in fact, the truth.

Eris is evil and manipulative, sometimes even hitting below the belt to invoke the emotions of her victims. She takes advantage of her physical appearance, insinuating much with very little. She flirts with Sinbad in order to get him to see her way by invading his space and appealing to his tastes, and yet, is quick to rip away her faux affections later on by accusing Sinbad of 'moving in on [Proteus'] girl' before he died. She's ruthless, and will do everything within her power to get you, yes you, to do what she wants you to, if that means pulling out all the stops with Roc, the Sirens and Cetus, she will. If Eris has invested enough time, energy and is willing to wait for the payoff, she'll take drastic measures to keep you around. If she doesn't think you will? You'll be left with her mess to clean up. Don't give her a reason to think you aren't worth the trouble, or she may just take it out on you herself. Losing isn't her strong point, but that's further down.

She is vain and self assured, well aware of her sexuality (as stated) and maybe even overconfident in her abilities as a deity. Not ever once in her canon does she doubt that her plan would fail, despite having measures against Sinbad's success. She's constantly showing off, informing Sinbad of her place on the walls of the temples in Syracuse and taking enormous forms in order to tower above her mortal victims. Her condition as a deity sometimes gives her a big head, and she never hesitates to be condescending to mortals, insinuating to Sinbad that his 'black heart' was the only thing good/that she liked about him. Eris puts herself on a very, very high pedestal, and is incredibly full of herself, and frequently plays the 'Honey, I'm a Goddess' card.
She pampers herself with luxurious bubble baths and fine drinks in her realm, because why not? She's a goddess, she can do what she wants, right?

Like previously stated, Eris' condition as a goddess makes her nearly all powerful, having the supernatural ability to summon mythological beasts from mere constellations, and use them to her advantage, as with her attack on Proteus' ship with Cetus, or the attack on the Chimera with Roc, the snow bird. She is formless, adhering to only what she wants, and appearing at will wherever she wants, and however she wants. She thinks, therefore she is. Does she want to be big, and intimidate her victim? She will be, towering over them, some thirty times their size. Does she want to appear flighty, and fluster her victim? She will, appearing in several places, even throwing her voice from all corners of the area. Eris reflects her pride, her sensuality and her status with her powers, and it's a key tool when she needs to take advantage of some poor mortal.

Chaos is Eris' existence. Without chaos, there cannot be Eris; without Eris, there can be no chaos. However, as long as the mortal realm continues, she does as well. She lives for chaos, literally, and doesn't hesitate to give anyone a hard time. She can appreciate a good prank. Even see the beauty in an erupting volcano. Eris entices destruction and disorder everywhere she goes, because without it, she does not exist.

She's true to her word, but not by choice. She would rather make a deal that she knows you won't keep. Eris is selfish and mean, and sometimes hot tempered. This is especially true when she loses. She'll lose her temper, yell and express her frustration in public, but not destructively so. After all, throwing fits is a mortal trait. She channels her anger into more productive activities...like planning her next deal with a mortal. But don't think that she'll lose any sleep over you or her mistakes; there will always be another mortal she can take advantage of; there always is.

pros: cunning, crafty, nearly all powerful, sassy/cocky, wise, stubborn, true to her word, super fine
cons: wicked, manipulative, sarcastic, temperamental, ruthless, ill intended, hell on wheels

Powers/Special Abilities: Put bluntly? Eris is a goddess. She's quite near all powerful. Well. Almost.
She's way down there on the food chain of gods and goddesses, under Zeus and Ares. This limits her abilities, and so does the Mist.

Omniscience/Formless: Eris does not adhere to gravity. "She thinks, therefore she is." is stated by the directors/animators in a bonus feature. Her body and hair are like vapor in cold air, or dye in water. She adheres to whatever she wants, most often, the shadows.
Deity's Knowledge: Eris watches everything. She watches everything from her realm, and knows everyone's business. She can see people's true nature; what their intentions are, and can see through mortal lies. Due to it's erratic and game breaking nature, this power will be limited by the Mist. She won't be able to see much at all with the Mist encroaching, causing her vision into the mortal realm to be blurry.
Creating from nothing/Hammerspace/Void storage: Eris can create objects she has on hand from thoughts. She can pull them from thin air. This includes her beasts such as Cetus and Roc, or Sinbad's dagger that she so kindly borrowed. This power will also be limited by the Mist. Due to it's erratic and game breaking nature, Eris will use this power very sparingly in the way that she creates illusions of objects. She won't be bringing the large beasties. See below.
Illusions: Eris can create illusions, literal smoke and mirrors. She can create entire false settings, or a simple representation of an object. She can also create disguises for herself, commonly described as simple shapeshifting. This brings her to the Academy as a potential nightmare trainer.

Inventory: Nothing. Eris will bring only herself, linking her dorm to her dimension. The Mist will cause her dorm to appear empty/misused, as the ability she uses to link the two will be affected.

Greatest Fear: Eris is a being of chaos, her nature is erratic, and overall, she is used to fear. Outwardly, she is unafraid of anything.
However, this isn't true.
Eris fears being powerless, a mere mortal. No better than any mortal man.
Being powerless bothers her, as she requires chaos and despair to retain her being. Goddess of Chaos, after all.
Having something or someone else, more powerful than herself overrule her? This also bothers her, her true nature is shown when she knows someone has the upperhand over her (i.e. when Sinbad keeps his word, she is bound by all eternity. Not keeping her word would bring catastrophic [not the good kind] consequences down on her).
The Mist is a collective of all these fears: The Mist can/will render her powerless, and the Mist is a looming figure in her mind, threatening to do just that. Her fears aren't traditional nor are they completely out of reach, they're very real and will may very well happen. This causes her initial interest in the Academy.

How is your character appropriate for this game? Chaos that out stands chaos herself?

Eris makes a great plot device, as well as (un)trustworthy confidant. She offers her services in order to get closer to the Mist and understand what's causing it, and whether or not she can harness it. What she'll have to do to get there as well as all the CR and strings she can pull? Offers the Academy a chaotic, and powerful ally.

Rooming request section: Hoover Hall if possible, but anywhere's good.

Year/Position: Staff, Mythology Professor Head of Department? Preferably a Dream/Nightmare Trainer, if available. If not, some other form of extracurricular activity wouldn't be out of the question (HAHA, CHAOTIC COUNSELING ANYONE?)

AU Specific Section
Feel free to ignore if you aren't writing a character into the Disney_Academy AU setting
AU history Eris' history remains largely unchanged; the events of Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas still occur (according to other main character's AUs).
All that has changed is her intentions; Eris wants to continue causing trouble. The mortal focus is taken off of her due to the Mist, and this upsets her because she is no longer the most powerful on the playground. Most importantly though, her powers are affected by the Mist's appearance. This is what drives her to the Academy, the potential for trouble is just a wonderful bonus.

How has it affected them? Eris has made a few decisions she's written off as nothing...unusual for her, and yet, they are. Her submitting to and accepting her invitation to the Academy speaks for itself; she is scared of being rendered powerless. There is something more powerful than she out there, and she must change it.

[ The feed clicks on flawlessly, no static or feedback to speak of. However, there's nothing but dark. Why is it so dark, you wonder?

It continues on, soundless for a moment, before a plume of smoke is discernible from the darkness. Is something on fire?

No, it's Eris. A low light like candlelight, only colder, defines her features and gives the goddess a rather spooky look. ]

Good evening, darlings. I hope you're all not asleep already, you couldn't possibly be.

[ Not with all the homework that'd been assigned, right? ]

Some of you have already had the pleasure of meeting me, but let's be a little more formal here. I'm Eris.

[ And while she's made no effort to conceal her obvious godhood, she leaves the rest of her title off. Her words continue with a rather obnoxiously suggestive tone, as though she's enjoying every single word she says. ]

....and I'll be helping out a little around here from now on. You don't get much higher protection or better knowledge from anyone other than a deity--[ Oh, there she goes. ]--but I'd rather show you rather than tell you.

I look forward to working with every. single. one of you. And I can only hope you all feel the same way about me.

See you tomorrow in class.

[ Is that too intimidating? No? How about this; ]

And maybe in the halls, too.

Goodnight.

Third Person Sample

The ground outside in the night is cold and damp, the absence of a proper moon causes the shadows to be abundant, starlight only barely lending enough light to make out the shrubbery of the path that lay ahead. It's eerie, not even the crickets chirp their usual song.
It's absolutely perfect, she thinks. Not a soul in their right mind would step out into this. And if they did, she would be watching.
Eris is drifting outside into the dark, utterly beside herself. Why had she come here again? Everything is so....boring. At least so far, it had been. Typical mortals, continuing along with their lives as though nothing is going to happen to them. In fact, it's almost frustrating. How dare they continue on when her very existence lay in the balance?
But she knows, something will happen to them, whether it's her or it's the Mist though, she will leave for time to tell. She sashays onward, out of her dormitory and into the quad, out of the quad and into the open air, quite unlike her. The dark is everywhere, and it gives her plenty of places to hide should she need to.
Eris hums to herself, her mind flitting here and there to what she would have done were she in any other situation. But she was here, and she did not regret it. Taking a seat at the fountain in the courtyard, she relishes the quietness. The fountain is still, just until she drags her fingers through the water. As she does, the water turns an inky, cloudy black, constellations pinpricking the dark water as it imitates the night sky. She sighs, and pulls her hand out. The water brightens, showing a space view of the oceans near Syracuse. Was she homesick?

Hell no.

She had only tried it a few times before and each time she did, her vision was still cloudy. The water refuses to give her a clear view of home. Her shoulders slump in defeat, but her fists clench in frustration. I am above this. she spitefully reminds herself, before she adheres back to the darkness of the quad, and returns to her dormitory. Eris had to visit someone, and she would, but not tonight. Tomorrow, when the shadows are more defined and the moon is out.
